Customer Experience Officer

An exciting opportunity presents itself to Scouts Victoria in this newly formed business model. The Container Deposit Scheme, recently established in Victoria, is closely aligned with Scouting values and environmental objectives. The scheme provides charities, community groups, environmental organisations, sports groups and educational organisations with new and easy ways to raise funds. Scouts Victoria aims to manage multiple depots around the South Eastern region, utilizing this opportunity to maximise its own revenue stream to better support our groups and youth.

The Customer Experience Officers will be responsible for all aspects of daily operations within our refunds depots. High on the list of priorities will be assisting customers to unload transfer their containers using our automated CDSA machines and CRTs. Operating the machines, maintenance, cleaning and other general duties. The Customer Experience Officer will possess an unwavering customer centric focus and take pride in the depot objectives and values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attending recycling depot service area
  • Attending customer enquiries
  • Assisting customers with operational instructions
  • General cleaning and maintenance
  • Attending phone and walk in enquiries
  • Supporting Depot Manager
  • Other general duties as required

This position requires the staff member to:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, customers, and suppliers
  • Maintain OHS obligations and practices
  • Satisfactory Police Check
  • Valid Working with Children Check Card

The refund depots are a seven day a week operation, with a strong customer experience focus. The refund process, for a customer, should be seamless, clean, friendly and efficient. This role is a hands on, team based role with expectation that the Manager will also work a shift roster, including some weekend work.

The Depot Manager will be responsible for daily operations and teams within the Scouts Victoria CDS depots. Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations, Customer journey/experience, front of house presentations, OHS, staffing, maintenance and reporting functions. The Depot Manager will possess an unwavering customer centric focus and work strategically with the Scouts Victoria leadership team to identify and manage continuous improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Provide strong leadership to the depot team, inspiring and motivating them to achieve high levels of performance.
  • Develop the business by identifying growth opportunities and strategic partnerships
  • Recruit, train, and develop staff members, ensuring they have the necessary skills to carry out their duties effectively.
  • Set performance goals and objectives for the team, and regularly provide feedback and performance evaluations

Customer Service:

  • Maintain a strong focus on providing exceptional customer service and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Resolve customer complaints and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Implement strategies to enhance the customer experience and build long-term customer relationships.

Operations Management:

  • Implementation of Scouts Victoria depots
  • Grow the profitable operation of SV depots
  • Oversee all aspects of depot operations, including cleaning, housekeeping, inventory management, and order processing.
  • Monitor and maintain adequate labour models to meet customer demand and minimise ineffective labour spend.
  • Coordinate with Logistics Partners to ensure timely collection of Bulk Bins and resolve any supply chain issues.
  • Implement and enforce operational policies and procedures to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the depot.

Financial Management:

  • Prepare and manage the depot budget, ensuring financial targets are met.
  • Monitor expenses and identify areas for cost reduction and operational efficiency.
  • Analyse revenue/volume data and trends to identify opportunities for growth and increased profitability.
  • Ensure the security of depot finances by establishing strong systems and procedures

Reporting and Communication:

  • Prepare regular reports on depot performance, including sales figures, inventory levels, and operational metrics.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management, providing updates on depot operations and performance.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as logistics, marketing, and human resources, to ensure smooth coordination and alignment of goals.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance depot operations.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the depot team.
  • Understanding of your community, key stakeholders, and the ability to drive growth initiatives with your Area Manager is advantageous.
